Ian Robertson is an associate at Hecker Fink LLP.
Ian helped secure initial victories in several lawsuits raising constitutional and statutory challenges to New York’s nation-leading congestion pricing program, when the Honorable Lewis J. Liman granted the Metropolitan Transportation Authority’s motions to dismiss and for summary judgment involving claims under the National Environmental Policy Act and New York’s State Administrative Procedure Act.
Ian also represented a group of New Yorkers, at trial and on appeal, in their successful challenge to Robert F. Kennedy, Jr.’s deliberate use of a false residence in trying to gain access to New York’s 2024 ballot.
Prior to joining the firm, Ian served as a Legal Intern in the Capital Habeas Unit at the Federal Defender Services of Idaho. In this role, he assisted attorneys at all stages of client representation, including researching legal issues and drafting legal memoranda, appellate briefs, and other legal writing.
Previously, Ian was a Law Clerk at Cravath, Swaine & Moore LLP and worked as a legal assistant at a boutique trial firm specializing in complex commercial disputes where he served as the lead assistant in two federal jury trials and one federal bench trial.
Ian received his J.D., magna cum laude, from Harvard Law School and B.A., with honors, from the University of Virginia, where he was a Jefferson Scholar.
