On August 28, 2025, Hecker Fink client David Macey entered into a deferred prosecution agreement (“DPA”) with the U.S. Attorney’s Office for the Southern District of New York under which the charges against him will be dropped in one year. Mr. Macey, a Miami-based lawyer, was charged with bribing US Drug Enforcement Administration agents in exchange for law enforcement information.

Mr. Macey entered into the DPA in a hearing before U.S. District Judge Jennifer H. Rearden, who concluded the proceeding by noting that it was an “extraordinary opportunity” for Mr. Macey and was due in part to “excellent advocacy” by his counsel.

We are extremely grateful to have helped Mr. Macey achieve justice in this case and clear his good name.  We are thrilled for him and his family and look forward to watching his law practice continue to thrive.

The Hecker Fink team includes Sean Hecker, David Patton, Shawn Crowley, Thea Raymond-Sidel, and Krysta Kilinski.
